This is an oil painting of basically the same scene as the woodblock print I made of the Kettle River in Banning State Park in northeastern Minnesota. There are many differences in the process and look of those two mediums, which is why I wanted to compare the two.

With oil painting, small details and nuances are easier to do, and with a woodblock print there are more areas of flat color without details, but often with a bolder feel. Each has its strengths and distinct look.
